Your privacy
Last updated 6 October 2026
YEUX counts taps, not people. You don't need an account to use the app. If you make one, we hold your full name, your email address and the paintings you save, so your Library follows you from phone to phone, and nothing else. The tap counting stays anonymous and is never linked to your account. You can switch the counting off, or delete your account, in Settings, and both take effect straight away. We never ask for your location. The only other place we hold an email address is the launch waitlist on this website, and only if you give it to us.
Who we are
YEUX is made by Elliot Somerville-Baddeley, an individual based in the UK. He is the data controller for the information described here: he decides how it is used and is responsible for looking after it.

The app
Anonymous usage counting
If "Share anonymous usage" is on (it is by default, and the app tells you so the first time you open it), the app sends our server a short list of things you did, such as:
- you opened the app
- you opened an artwork's "See more" panel, or viewed it full screen
- you saved or un-saved an artwork, or tapped share (we record which artwork, using its public catalogue number)
- you turned the daily notification on or off
- how far back through recent days you scrolled
Each batch carries a random ID that the app makes for itself the first time you open it, plus the app version, your iPhone's iOS version and your language setting (for example "en-GB").
This counting never includes:
- Your name or email address. It is never linked to an account, even if you have one.
- Your location, even roughly.
- Your Apple advertising ID or device ID.
- What you type, or your list of saved artworks.
- Your IP address. We don't store it.
We don't sell, rent or share this information with anyone, and the app contains no third-party analytics or advertising software.
Why
To learn whether people come back to YEUX, and which artworks people love, so we can choose better ones. That's all it's used for. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the app is used, which is why it's anonymous, minimal, and easy to switch off.
Notifications
The daily reminder is scheduled on your phone. We don't send it from a server and hold no notification token.
Your account (optional)
You can use YEUX without one. An account only adds one thing: your Library of saved paintings is kept safe and follows you to a new phone or after a reinstall. There is no password. You sign in with Apple, or with a 6-digit code we email you.
What we hold
- Your full name and email address. If you sign in with Apple, Apple gives us these. If you choose "Hide My Email", it's a private address Apple makes for us instead of your real one. If you sign in with email, you type them.
- Your saved paintings: the title, artist, date and image address of each, and when you saved it.
- Sign-in codes. A code is stored scrambled so it can't be read back, works for 10 minutes, and is deleted as soon as it's used.
- A sign-in key for each phone you're signed in on, also stored scrambled. It lasts until you sign out or delete your account.
We don't store your IP address with your account, and an account holds nothing about what you do in the app beyond the list above. The usage counting above is separate and is never joined to it.
Why
To let you sign in and to keep your Library in sync. Our lawful basis is that this is needed to provide the account you asked for. We don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't use it for anything else. Today, the only email we send to your address is the sign-in code.
Who helps us
- Resend sends the sign-in code email for us. It sees your email address and the code, handles them only on our instructions, and sends from servers in Ireland.
- Apple, if you use Sign in with Apple. Apple's own privacy policy applies to what happens on its side.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Settings, then Account, then "Delete account". It happens immediately and permanently removes your name, email, saved paintings and sign-in keys from our database. "Sign out" is different: it only removes the key from that phone and the phone's copy of your Library, and your account stays. If you delete the app without deleting your account, the account stays until you delete it or ask us to.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist on this website, we store your email address, the date you joined and which form you used (for example, the one at the top of the page). Nothing else: not your name, and not your IP address.
We use it for one thing: to email you when YEUX launches, and about getting the app. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by joining. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you at any time by writing to support@yeuxdaily.art. We'll delete the whole list within six months of launch. The waitlist is kept separately from accounts and is never joined to them.
The website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising. Its fonts are served from our own site, not Google's. Our website host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (which include IP addresses) for a short time to keep the site secure and working. We don't use them to identify anyone.
Where it's kept, and for how long
- App usage, accounts and the waitlist are stored in our own database, hosted by Railway in the United States. Railway handles it only on our instructions, under its data processing agreement.
- Accounts are kept until you delete yours.
- Sign-in emails go through Resend, which sends from servers in Ireland.
- Usage events are deleted after 13 months.
- The waitlist is deleted within six months of launch, or straight away for anyone who asks.
- Artwork images are served from our own storage (
images.yeuxdaily.art, run by Cloudflare). Loading them tells Cloudflare what any website would learn from a visit; we don't keep it.
Your choices and rights
- Turn off usage counting any time: Settings, then Privacy, then "Share anonymous usage". Anything waiting to be sent is deleted.
- Delete your account: Settings, then Account, then "Delete account". Immediate and permanent.
- Delete the app: the random usage ID goes with it, and a reinstall starts a new, unrelated one. An account stays until you delete it.
- Leave the waitlist: use the unsubscribe link, or email us.
- Ask us: you have the right to see, correct or delete information we hold about you, and to object to how we use it. We can find an account by its email address. The usage counting's ID is random and not linked to you, so we usually can't tell which of that data is yours, but write to support@yeuxdaily.art and we'll look.
- If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
YEUX isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and say so in the app.
